AUMC Zoom Book Study Group

On Tuesday, July 14th at 7:00pm-8:30pm, join us to kick off our new (virtual) Book Club – we’ll be discussing the latest novel from Sue Monk Kidd, author of The Secret Life of Bees and The Invention of Wings, among many others. What if Jesus had had a wife? What would she be like? What would he be like with her? What part would she play in the events of that time? How would she fit into his history? The Book of Longings is an inspiring, unforgettable account of one woman’s bold struggle to realize the passion and potential inside her, while living in a time, place and culture devised to silence her. It is a triumph of storytelling both timely and timeless, from a masterful writer at the height of her powers.”

Zoom Log-in Instructions will be provided to those who RSVP. Email questions and/or let us know you’ll be joining us! Contact Mary Shannon (marybearshannon@gmail.com 484-469-1706) or Stacy Bartels (bartelskaufhold@gmail.com 610-212-6386). Click here for flyer.

Online Giving

Please continue your generous and faithful giving to the Ardmore United Church. You can either use the Donate button by clicking here to give an online donation, or mail a check to the church office at 200 Argyle Rd, Ardmore, PA 19003. You can drop off a check or envelope as well. The Finance Committee suggests you set up an “auto-pay” through your bank so the check is sent automatically, with no extra fees taken out.

Announcements

We all see the long lines at food banks distribution locations.  Will you give?? To make it easy, bring your food donations each  Saturday mornings between 10am-12pm. Paul Gard will be at the church waiting! Just come by, put in his car and it will be directly taken to the St. Mark’s Food Bank.

Activities Committee to Enhance Fellowship

A new committee is being formed to plan, organize and help carry out group activites that will enhance our fellowship. Please consider joining this important committee. Click here for more details.

Share Your Muscial Gifts

Do you or did you play a musical instrument? Our goal is to create an AUMC orchestra/band/musical ensemble. Or, it could be two or three smaller groups, depending on the instruments. (Guitar and drums are more oriented to a band, while French horn, oboe, clarinet, etc. would be more oriented to a woodwind and brass ensemble.) Click here for more details.

Missions, Missions, Missions!

Grace Café: Help us serve a warm meal to the homeless. A few times a year, Ardmore UMC has been sending a team of volunteers to prepare & serve a hot meal to the needy at Grace Cafe. Grace Café is a restaurant style community meal and ministry of Arch Street UMC, serving 200-275 meals each Sunday evening with our neighbors experiencing food insecurity and homelessness. Please consider being a part of this rewarding mission.

Mid-Town Parish in North Philadelphia: As you may recall, when the UMC of Bala Cynwyd merged with Ardmore several years ago our District Superintendent challenged us to give significantly to Mission as a new “united” congregation. As a result, a substantial gift was given to Mid-Town Parish. The goal was to help them reestablish their worship space by helping them purchase a new building. After of years of effort they have finally begun to use the new building for worship. Praise God!

Adopt a Family: A local single mom has reached out to us for support. She is behind on her rent and electric bill, and needs food and clothes for her three children. Click here for details about how we can help.

Methodist Home for Children: Each year before Christmas, Friends in Faith collects gift cards and cash donations for the Methodist Home for Children. Help us ensure that these children are not forgotten during this holiday season. Contact Jo Hopkins if you would like to help.

St. Mark’s Food Bank: We will continue to collect food donations for St. Mark’s in Broomall.  Please ensure that any food item has a future expiration date as the Food Bank cannot accept items with expired dates.

We are excited about this accent lighting project and we will invite your participation and giving.Click here for more information.
