Upcoming Events: 
Sunday, 12/10: Second Sunday of Advent worship service. This Sunday, our very talented senior choir and soloists will present special music for Christmas. The Regis Family be lighting the First and Second Candles of the Advent Candle Wreath. Please join us for this music-filled worship service.

Monday, 12/11 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm: Christmas Eve prep, Wesley Room. We are starting to get ready for Christmas Eve and could use some help. Our new Director of Christian Ed, Wayne Davis, wants to see what we have with costumes and props for our Christmas Pageant on Christmas Eve and needs help sorting. If you are able, please join us!

Wednesday, 12/13 at 7:30pm: Friends in Faith meeting in Parlor.

Thursday, 12/14 at 7:30pm: Administrative Council meeting in Wesley Room.

Sunday, 12/17 at 11:00am: Third Sunday of Advent worship service. The Children’s Choir will sing their Christmas medley directed by Shirley McClintock.  It will also feature Wayne Davis on guitar. Be sure not to miss this wonderful presentation! 

Sunday, 12/17 from 4:00pm-8:00pm: Grace Café mission, Arch St. UMC.  All are welcome to join us as we help prepare and serve over 250 folks for a Christmas feast. (Click here for more info) 

Sunday, 12/24: Christmas Eve.

11:00am Fourth Sunday of Advent Worship Service“The Word is made flesh” 

4:00pm Family Service: Everyone is invited to attend this "family-friendly" Christmas Eve service.  We will have special music and the children will re-enact the Christmas Story.  We will end with our traditional candle lighting ceremony.

7:30pm Candle Light Service: The Sanctuary is beautifully bathed in candle light: along with a service of lessons and carols, special music and proclamation of the word.   

Sunday, 12/31/17 at 11:00am: Worship with Christmas music with Alex Nelson and The Havertones.

Sunday, 1/17/18 at 11:00am: Covenant Service in the Wesleyan Tradition with Holy Communions at the altar rail.

 

AUMC Christmas Poinsettias for Sale

The beauty of our church is enriched each year by the presence of the Royal Red of the Poinsettia. If you wish to participate by placing a plant in  memory  or in honor  of a loved one, please complete this form and return it to the church office  by 12/18. The price for each plant is  $8, click here to reserve yours.

 

Friends In Faith Mission for Methodist Home for Children
Beginning November 5th and continuing through Sunday, December 3rd, Friends in Faith will be collecting cash donations and $10 and $20 gift cards from Target, K-Mart, Wall-Mart or Best Buy to benefit the Methodist Home for Children.  Help us ensure that these children will not be forgotten during this holiday season.  Donations can be given to Jo Hopkins in the Narthex after the service.
 
Get Involved!
We hope you will get involved and participate in the life of the church! Use your gifts & graces to serve the Lord! Volunteer to serve on a Committee, Team, or Work Area. We are looking for people to serve in the following areas:
• Church Council
• Lay Leader
• Christian Education
• Outreach & Mission
• Coffee/Fellowship Hour after worship
• Help with Dinners and Events
• Property, Trustees
Find your place! Simply contact the church office to express your interest in joining a Committee. 
 

Altar Flowers
The 2018 calendar sign up is now posted on the bulletin board outside the church office. We are pleased to announce that we are able to keep the price at $40.00, so sign up now to get your requested date! Your request will be printed in that week's bulletin and the flowers are yours to take after the service. Any questions can be directed to the church office.

Wifi Hot Spot

We have set up a Wifi “hotspot” in the sanctuary, should you want or need the internet while you are at church. There is a unit in the Sanctuary, Wesley Room and Bailey Hall. The network and password are on the front of the white box plugged into the wall somewhere in each space. For the sanctuary, it is located on the right hand side as you are looking at the altar, toward the front. Please be respectful of this service.

Food Banks

Food donations are welcomed every week. Basket for all varieties goes to St. Mark’s food bank. The orange container is for Hope UMC, Havertown. They’d appreciate Peanut Butter, Jelly, lunch items and juice boxes.

New Stained Glass Windows!
On Easter Sunday, our church and the unveiling of our new stained glass windows made the news! The four stained glass windows feature gospel-writing saints Matthew, Mark, Luke and John that came from Bala Cynwyd UMC after its closure and members joined Ardmore UMC. Click here to read the news article.

Conference Board of Ordained Ministry
Pastor Tim is now on the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. His responsibilities include review and evaluate of candidates for Ordained Ministry in the United Methodist Church. Please continue to pray for Pastor Tim in this role, as well as all who follow their call into ministry.
 
Sunday School Volunteers Needed
There are many opportunities to volunteer and Sunday School (Children's Church) Teachers are always in demand. To volunteer in our Christian Education Program, please contact Pastor Tim (or call the church office) to participate in this ministry. You can also read the Sunday School newsletter here.
 
Tables for Eight
If you missed the previous series of "Tables for Eight" dinners, please keep an eye out for announcements for the next series. The "Tables for Eight" program places interested adult members of the congregation into groups of eight to share in a co-operative dinner. This program is open to couples, singles, or simply two friends who wish to sign-up together. The groups of eight will be different for each dinner. The dinner will take place in the home of someone who has offered to serve as a host. This person, or couple, will provide the main dish, rolls and beverage. Others in the group will be assigned to provide a salad, or a side dish, or a dessert. 
 
Grace Cafe - Service Opportunity
A few times a year, Ardmore UMC has been sending a team of volunteers to prepare & serve a hot meal to the needy at Grace Cafe periodically. Grace Café is a restaurant style community meal and ministry of Arch Street UMC, serving 200-275 meals each Sunday evening with our neighbors experiencing food insecurity and homelessness. Our next service date will be announced soon. Stay tuned for future opportunities to be part of this mission.

Community Garden
We have made progress! Thanks so much to John and Lisa Calhoun, Michelle Flamer, Rob Lewis and Brenda Casper. Due to their efforts, the rest of the garden has been weeded, hoed and planted. Straw has been put down to help with weeds. If you would like to help, talk to any of the team members listed above.

Anyone interested in being a Sunday morning scripture reader, please sign up on the sheet located on the bulletin board. We are in need of volunteers for the Altar Guild as well. Sign up sheet on bulletin board. 

Other Outreach / Service Projects
Ardmore United Methodist Church is a giving church family. Throughout the year we participate in various charitable outreach / service projects to benefit needy members of the surrounding community and around the world.
